Those are the ones to go after.

Maybe it is fair to say that Reid should have played hardball with those turncoats, but it may not have made a difference.

Tom Udall said that.
http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/274791-leading-proponent-of-filibuster-reform-claims-51-votes-for-nuclear-option

But then apparently he got undercut. As I understand it, in a private meeting, Udall identified the Dem Senators who undercut this initiative, pleading with people to make calls to these turncoats to try to get them back in line. That was unsuccessful of course and now that list of name seems to have disappeared. Bernie Sanders specifically mentioned this on Thom Hartmann's program, but Sanders was not at the meeting and did not have first hand knowledge s the exact list of names.
I am 99% sure one of them was Feinstein. And the list probably also included the others who were negotiating with McCain on an alternative.

Even across parties, they cover each others asses.

That's why they have absurdities like secret holds where a single Senator can block any appointment and never be held accountable. As I understand it, there is effectively a gentleman's agreement to never name those names publicly.

Especially when they say it was a good deal. It seems to be code for keep it the same. These politicians on our side seem to like it the way it is.

Talk about entrenched power protecting its own selfish interests.

When they failed to do this I felt like it was the last straw. It's as if our government no longer represents us. It's not just drone strikes, and fucking up our postal service, but they simply refuse to do anything that is considered "rocking the boat". The fucking boat needs rocking!

They can all go fuck themselves. I know it's counterproductive to drop out, but I've got better things to do than sign tons of petitions with the hopes that maybe someone is listening. Or funding candidates with the dream that this time they'll come out swinging.

America is in trouble. The voice of the people can't be heard over the volume of the lobbyists. And politicians think they're rock stars.

DU used to rock the boat.

If we had the same mentality in 2001 that we see now, Barack Obama would never have been elected President. The entire Party is soft and ineffectual.

This isn't Harry Reid's fault.
Harry Reid was CHOSEN by the Senate Democrats for this exact reason.
He DID exactly what he was chosen to do.

Have you ever questioned WHY the Senate Democrats would appoint a conservative wimp from a conservative state to be the Majority leader?

To talk about it means we don't support the Democratic Party . But it's crystal clear to see how they play this game.

We should get rid of those people, most of them are in safe democratic districts, so their seats will be filled by a democrat.

..and Levin has political capital seeping out of his pores, he can be Senator for life if he wants to be...if only he'd been for REAL reform it wouldn't have cost him anything....

It is infuriating!!!!! Sometimes you love the old bulls..they keep seats safely blue...other times you almost hate them...
