Is the generation aged 13 to 18 going to be more leftist ?

My son is 17 and it seems from talking to him, that his generation will be more leftist than the current zeitgeist. We are in Florida, which is not exactly a bastion of progressivism overall.

Does this correspond with others who know kids that age ?

and the long sad road they walked toward regression. That being said after 30 years of rightward tilt it isn't beyond hope that their will be a correction soon with a more leftward realignment.

My son's generation will be faced with global warming in its worst manifestation, whereas I may die off before things get super bad. I feel sorry for his generation, I really do.

The millennials/gen z (those born after the early 2000's) are a highly integrated generation.
There is also a clear collective sense among them.

when he could understand politics. His father (my son) and his stepmother are Democrats, as are my daughter and myself. My daughter lives in South Florida and has always been a Democrat. I, my son and his family live in Georgia, which as everyone know, is a totally red state. We live in Cherokee County and it is so red it should be glowing.

They know that in order to receive a good education, they'll have to fight the big banks and their shady lending practices tooth and nail. I doubt if they'll put up with grownups who tell them what to do with their bodies as they reach the age of consent. They've seen what happens when they listen to demagogues who try to march a country into a war in a frenzy of nationalism. I doubt if they'll be swayed much into going to the ballot box to vote for God, Family Values and against the Gay Agenda.

because frankly they saw how many boomers turned yuppie,, and how awful that worked out, and they saw how many of my fellow gen xers tried to turn right to spite their parents, again, we all know how that turned out.

If they abuse that power, I suspect this generation can be lost. If Democrats use that power well to help those who need it, then we will have a liberal renaissance.

Bush has destroyed the current 18-30's to neofundie ideals and Republicans in general.

I think the next generation will be further to the left but they won't necessarily be Democrats.

Our economic mess and high unemployment won't be solved by the time these kids are hunting for employment. The 17 year old are already thinking about college and majors and looking at their "boomerang" older siblings. I see a lot of them going for any party that speaks out against the corruption on Wall Street and off-shoring of jobs.

If the Democrats aren't willing to go there and make a tangible effort to address those issue, I see a further left party (Labor or Green) emerging.

It's hard for me to judge, though, 'cuz we're in Portland, Ore., and being liberal is the norm here.

Are those who were in that age band in 1993 for example more likely to more leftist now or just totally disinterested.
