by Joan McCarter
House Republicans did it again, passing yet another budget from Rep. Paul Ryan, which cuts $4.6 trillion over the next ten years, (turns) Medicare into a voucher system, and repeals Obamacare, in a 221-207 vote. Every Democrat voting, along with 10 Republicans, voted no.
Despite some grumbling from within the GOP leadership ranks about how the budget goes too far, the Republicans were pretty darned unified in lining up to destroy everything good that government does.
It also creates a $6 trillion revenue hole with its massive tax cuts for the wealthy, says it cuts $100 billion in defense spending that it doesn't really cut, and thus doesn't really balance the budget in ten years, as Ryan promised.
But it's all good, because they all know the secret that freshman Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) let out of the back: it's all "pretend" anyway.
"We know it's dead on arrival," Massie said. "We know it's a pretend vote."
Dead on arrival in 2013, and potentially a great gift to Democrats for 2014.

As the country prepares to celebrate the third anniversary of health care reform, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) insisted on Thursday that the Affordable Care Act will kill vulnerable women and children during a speech on the floor of the House.
In a long diatribe against the law, Bachmann predicted that the American people will pay more and get less, before suggesting that the provisions of Obamacare will literally kill people:
BACHMANN: Thats why were here because were saying lets repeal this failure before it literally kills women, kills children, kills senior citizens. Lets not do that. Lets love people, lets care about people. Lets repeal it now while we can.
Watch it:

UPDATE
Bachmann later came back to the floor and described Medicaid a health care program for lower-income Americans as a ghetto. Heres the one that no American wants to be in. Its the Medicaid ghetto, she said. And thats where the lowest possible care, where very few doctors will be available available to offer this kind of care. While the program is not without problems, a study by the Government Accountability Office showed Medicaid beneficiaries were just as happy with their health care as those with private insurance.
