Susan G. Komen's VP Indicates Her Real Motives In Awful Twitter Retweet
Karen Handel, a former GOP candidate who ran on a pro-life platform, shows her true colors. She just happens to be Susan G. Komen’s Vice President of Public Policy now.
Planned Parenthood offers cancer screenings as a significant portion of its services. Taking away funding for those services leaves not only Planned Parenthood vulnerable, but the women who rely on them. Susan G. Komen’s official story is that the defunding is non-political, but what their Vice President retweeted tells a different story. Share this if you think so, too. ------------------- http://front.moveon.org/susan-g-komens-vp-indicates-her-real-motives-in-awful-twitter-retweet/

44. You do know Susan G. Komen died in 1980, right?
|
And Brinker, her SISTER, created the Foundation to honor her memory, and help stop breast cancer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_G._Komen Susan Goodman, later Susan Goodman Komen, was born in 1943 in Peoria, Illinois. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. She died of the disease at age 36 in 1980. Komen's younger sister, Republican Ambassador Nancy Goodman Brinker, who believed that Susan's outcome might have been better if patients knew more about cancer and its treatment, promised her sister that she would do everything she could to end breast cancer. To fulfill that promise, Brinker founded the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Komen's memory in 1982

|
I deliver my annual UW contribution to PP using this convenient payroll deduction method and supplement it with other donations. I made an additional contribution when the fight with Indiana threatened PP funding and will do so again now that SGK has terminated funding. I have never contributed to the SGK organization so I can't terminate any donations but I'm sure many will. How did they not understand their position on this would cost them dearly from both a financial and reputational perspective. They start this damn fight and then accuse PP of making political hay out of it. What idiots.

I know many women who have participated in that event. They are all educated, pro-choice women. I imagine that a majority of the walkers and runners feel similarly. Yeah, they can continue doing it with conservatives and apolitical types, but their numbers will drop dramatically, I'm guessing.

It won't even take a backtrack. A few months down the road when the foundation gets assistance from any company that doesn't openly hate women, gays, and birth control Fox will do a "story" that exposes it, and that lot will lose their minds and abandon them immediately. Even if it's just a rumor or completely nonsensical, the effect will be the same.

Just like the catholic church taking over fucking hospitals and denying access to anything they don't like. They don't have constitutional authority to deny us, just yet, though they're working on that too. In the meantime, they can just corner the market on all the outlets capable of providing services their imaginary fucking sky monster doesn't like. If humans get hurt in the process, so fucking what? They don't care about neither women nor fetuses. That's all bullshit. They care about their own souls, and think their god will be mad at them if they don't fight for his supposed cause. This is about them, and them alone. The actual effects on actual lives of actual humans do not fucking matter.

Go to the SBK national web page. They list their sponsors. Find those you usually buy from (ie Yoplait...one of their biggest sponsors) and write them explaining why you will no longer be buying their product.

54. I had no idea that the Komen org was right wing
|
I've been reading these threads with disbelief - I can't be the only one who didn't know all of this.
I will never donate a dime to these freaks again. Never. Nor sponsor any races for anyone. My donations will go elsewhere in the future. This is so sick. |

I was literally about to load it when I heard the news about what they did to Planned Parenthood, and instead of posting, hit "delete." I've helped this group in the past get many people signed up who read about them on the magazine I publish, but not anymore. |

74. Are those those shady organizations that tell women that abortions cause breast cancer?
|
Those religious organizations that pretend to offer pregnant women "options" but instead browbeat rape victims into giving birth, while telling poor women that abortions cause cancer? Great.
We see the utter failure of letting the private sector provide health care and health research. |
