That Atlanta cheating scandal has global implications

the really sad part for all of us in Jamaica is Dr Beverly Hall - she went to one of the best all girls' schools on the island - St Andrews High School for Girls. Then she left Jamaica and went to college in the US.

So much for rewarding teachers and schools - a really bad idea.

is that I would expect that it goes on in every district. Maybe not to that extent, but to some extent. When you leverage jobs, careers, and paychecks and tie it to a performance based outcome, you will get cheating.

I remember when we went to school for an education and not just for tests.

What a fugging mess.

It wouldn't be so bad if the underclass actually benefited now and then, but nowadays there isn't any trickle down at all. The greed in the upper class is at historic proportions. We are at the edge of another Gilded Age and with history cut out of the curriculum and a willful ignorance by those that should know better...I fear we will slide into it full speed.

and prosecuted it.

Didn't this come up all over Texas after W left? And DC after Rhee left? I might just not have heard about it, but I don't think anyone has been prosecuted in either of those cases.

which is why I say that I am certain that it is everywhere.

But don't expect it to be investigated. Teachers get reassigned and life goes on.

It never was meant to be sincerely geared toward helping education anymore then Kaplan cares about educating their students. It is all about making money once again, the same old story that has become all too familiar.

'Fuck the kids, make money' is the message loud and clear. With Evangelical fervor toward privatization of ALL schools.

Money, money, money...'go to school and make some money' while going into debt from loans.

P. T. Barnum said it best.

Greed has taken over. Privatize education then send the kids to private prisons.

And the same SOBs profit regardless of which one the young person is in. When you hire B actors to peddle your 'educational institute' like it was cold cuts. The commercials give me no faith in the product, why would I possibly believe it is about enlightenment?

Ya greed seems to be a never dieing out tradition.

We have a very old proverb

'Evry day carry bucket go a well, one day di bucket bottom must drop out.'

When enough people get angry enough, Occupy will look tame.

You lower the standards of a country to such a level that what was once outrageous becomes a normal occurrence out of desperation. It is a matter of numbers and time really. Unless someone actually decides to try and restore us to pre-9/11-2000 levels of sanity.

We didn't know what they meant when they said, '9/11 Changed Everything' until we were all neck deep in the shit. It really meant, 'watch us make the Reagan Era robberies look like peanuts'.

In 20 years we might be watching the number one rated show, "Ouch My Balls!" while drinking BRAWNDO.
