The religious "wrong" and the GOP continue to pursue the "coat hanger" strategy. The war on family planning is on steroids right now. By denying women the right to plan their families, the GOP is guaranteeing a return to the pre Roe V Wade era. Back alley abortions and contraceptive black markets will do tremendous harm to women. Why not return to chastity belts.
Voters who support reproductive rights should make a sign that says "GOP Family Planning" and attach it to a coat hanger and send it to their pastors and GOP politicians. Mocking and shaming the GOP might be the only thing that they understand. It does not matter if you piss them off. At least give them the heartburn.
When you go to GOP town halls hang a coat hanger around your neck with the sign on it.

(10,602 posts)That is a good idea. Sterilization is an option. We need a bumper sticker for our cars. It should say, "Save The Planet, Get Fixed!".
The real truth is that this planet cannot support 9 billion people. We cannot support the 7 billion we have now.
Based on how the GOP wants to run the economy couples having children now will never be able to support them until they are old enough to get out of the house.
The GOP economic plan means that by the time a worker is 40 they will be out of the job market. That is if they even get a decent enough job to support a family in the first place. The GOP believes that $10 and hour is more than adequate for working class people.

After my second child was born, I remember talking to my grandmother, who said "OK, you've got your family now. Time to get it snipped."
She was so cool...

(10,602 posts)I have been tempted to put this (the title) sign on my car. I never had any children and never intended to. Because of that I was able to retire at 54 and have not had to work for 14 years now as of April 1st. I retired on April Fools Day to celebrate all the fools who would never retire because they support a GOP agenda that dooms them to dying on the job.
I don't have to about supporting my kids, raising my grandchildren, having a pregnant daughter with no husband etc. Today's famliies will become multiple families living together unless the economy changes to a worker friendly one. I know many couples who are still supporting their grown children who cannot make it.
I know one older couple whose child and spouse live in their basement because they are too poor to be on their own. Yet these kids are staunch Republicans and abuse this couple every day because they are active Democrats. Yet they are living in their parents basement.

(2,758 posts)I'm of an age where the coat hanger really was the only option. I just can't believe how we're now hearing about going back to those times & people seem to be oblivious to the implications. It's time to stand up.

(9,985 posts)All the back alley abortions, dead and injured women, contraceptives a secret for rich women only, It's all The Vengeful Wrath of The Lord to these losers. Oh, yeah - there are MORE abortions when they are illegal, IIRC.

(10,602 posts)If they get their way and pass all the laws they want the fundies will rule women's lives like they never had before. Women will be in jail if they have a miscarriage that is not natural or even a necessary abortion. Personhood laws would change the entire legal ball game entirely.
