Wisconsin Man racks up 15th DUI

http://www.kare11.com/comments/960794/14/Wis-man-arrested-for-15th-DWI

NEAR EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - A chronic lawbreaker is facing his 15th DWI after being pulled over in the city of Altoona Sunday night.

Police say 50-year-old Mitchell Bundy was stopped around 10:45 p.m. while driving near River Prairie Drive and US Highway 53 for an observed traffic violation.

The officer suspected that Bundy had been drinking alcohol, and he was arrested for DWI following field sobriety testing.

Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicle records indicate that he has fourteen prior convictions for Operating While Intoxicated dating back to 1991. He does, however, hold a valid drivers license in Wisconsin.

Simple solution. Three Strikes on DUIs. After the third conviction, LIFETIME driving ban plus LIFETIME ban on driving motorboats, ATVS, and nowmobiles, etc...

everyone in congress and state legislatures and gubernatorial mansions and the bench all want to be "tough on crime" when it comes to victimless crimes, especially those that they figure minorities might commit.

yet, they are incredibly lax when it comes to devastating crimes that they can see themselves or a buddy or a family member committing, even when multiple deaths are the easily anticipated result.

DUI's are on the rise and my SIL is a cop - she says that the laws have so much paperwork and specific procedures when it comes to DUI arrests, that 90% of the time the driver gets off on a technicality if they have a semi-conscious lawyer. It's one of the hardest things to get a conviction on.

There were two guys sitting next to me. One had 6 DUIs, the other had 7. And they were sitting at a brewery drinking before going to court ordered rehab. Yay.

But 15? Holy crap!!!

They get to deal with the drunk drivers time after time, and be first on the scene of the horrible accidents... and sometimes they get to notify families that their loved ones have been killed by a drunk driver.

Seems a reasonable and prudent way to shut down repeat offenders.
