I do not want this to drag on and possibly end up being decided at the convention. He is the "dream come true" general election opponent if you are a progressive Democrat. He is generously flawed in all the right directions. The results tonight are making me very nervous.

(10,237 posts)...I hope, deep in my heart of hearts, that we'll get to wipe the floor with little ricky santorum.
Maybe "the floor" isn't what needs to be wiped when we consider santorum.
PEACE!

(7,947 posts)I'd rather establishment Repukes have to remember the humiliating trouncing Newt or Frothy Mix will bring.

(23,957 posts)their party is made viable by short attention spans, lack of critical thinking, and inability to remember political happenings more than a year old. their elites make huge money regardless of the party in power, and their normals are frankly happier when they have someone prominent to hate. When Obama stomps all over their brokered candidate in November, they'll have moved on by February.

(7,947 posts)That was a 3 way race and Clinton didn't even break 50% of the vote, so according to repukes, he wasn't legitimate.

(39,313 posts)and Santorum is just too weird to win so they'll hold back.

(94,597 posts)It's a lot of fun for reporters and political junkies, but its a horror for a political Party. They show themselves as disorganized, they waste time otherwise spent on attacking the other Party, and the eventual winner has almost no time to build a political organization.

(5,364 posts)Despite his unabashed plutocratic personna, he is the most "electable" of the GOP clowns ran/running. I was actually hoping for one of the other nutjobs.

(23,500 posts)Sure, we all like to fantasize about them losing 49 states with Newt or Santorum, but they Teabaggers LOVE them, and they control most of the state governments these days. If they really work overtime on stuffing those ballot boxes, they could "win".
Who can forget:
We will have to fight 27 of them in November!

No way we want the GOP bozo to be tanned, rested and ready. We want them tired, crying and stressed to the max.

(53,061 posts)The base will stay home and you will see a huge win for Democrats in the House and Senate.
On top of all of that the harder he tries the more people won't like him.
At some point you wonder if he won't realize that Republicans don't like him and give up.
Ideally that would be a couple of weeks after he gets the nomination.

(6,036 posts)The Electoral Votes in play are in the swing states. Romney will have an easier time moving to the center after the primary than a Santorum.

(20,450 posts)him. Hence, we want him bloodied and bruised. The accepted paradigm in politics that prolonged battles helps a candidate does not hold for Romney. I think the more we go along, the more he is hurt.
My worry about him is that he's such a smooth talker and LIAR that they'll be people who are swayed by his rhetoric.
