The problem with the current batch of Primary Nominees (and maybe even the re-elect Obama people)

is that they don't get how fundamentally the internet has changed the game. They believe they can say one thing to one group and the exact opposite to another group and in another time and neither group would be the wiser, that is exactly what they did and that's exactly how it worked. It most assuredly does not work that way now so unless you keep a consistent message (ha, I don't believe that is anywhere in the politician contract!) you anger everyone.

I really feel kinda sad for these relics who are just a little too old to grasp that the internet, rather than being a series of tubes, is actually a complete and total game changer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to point and laugh at the Republicans as they screw up this fundamental understanding again, and again, wash, rinse, repeat, ad infinitem. But it will be tinged with sadness that the old codgers just couldn't keep up. It will happen to all of us as we get older and now is their time. So it's funny and sad at the same time, you know?

They get to keep their jobs, and it's up to us to figure out what's really going on.

Anymore I would think that when criticized, TPTB in China (or Iran, or Syria, etc...) just point to the U.S. and say "Oh, please! You think it's bad here?"

Excellent observation. The internet is a game changer.

What I'm curious about is how politicians' behavior will change once they realize this.

That didn't work so well. I wonder myself what the next volley will be.

Okay, probably not, but I can dream.
