The Rethuglican lie about "coverage" of contraceptives

I'm listening to Morning Jerk try so hard to make the contraceptive ruling an issue. He is so desperate for an issue and thinks he has got one now for his buds.

He's lying. Don't fall down from the shock.

I don't know of a business in America that provides direct health coverage out of their own bank account for their employees. I may be wrong, but I don't know of any. They buy employee packages from insurance companies. It's those insurance companies and their packages that must cover contraceptives, whether they are bought by a hospital or a hamburger shack. This administration's ruling is no more intrusive to a hospital than it is to the hamburger shack.

It's the same argument that Karen Handel made against Planned Parenthood- that she ditched them because they don't provide direct mammograms. No doctor's office provides mammograms on site. They do referrals, just like Planned Parenthood. She lied. They lied.

Edited to add:

Employees don't get their medications from the hospital or the hamburger shack, either. They have to go to a pharmacy.

1. "Direct mammograms"? How many different excuses have they made now?

Last (and 1st, I believe) was that PP was under Congressional investigation.

The RW really has issues in sticking to a script.

3. Yeah, one of the "reasons" they stopped funding PP was they didn't actually perform the mammograms

they referred the women to other sources. So, since they weren't actually performing the procedure, they didn't need the money.

None of their arguments hold water.

that are not good for contraceptives.

really what they object to is that they're being denied the "right" to discriminate on the basis of religion in their hiring.

Insurance companies administer the programs, but large employers decide what will and will not be covered (and to what extent). Regulations can constrain those decisions, but employers (at least large ones) don't just buy a predesigned package and live with it. Many are essentially self-insured and just pay the insurance company to administer the plan.

98% of whom use birth control is how I heard it put this morning on Amy's show.

i wonder if they realize that,as an example, my urologist has residency at a catholic hospital and performs vasectomies (a very effective form of birth control btw!) using their logic, he should be flogged and burned at the stake.

It doesn't matter! It's the CHURCH'S right to free exercise! THAT is the only thing that matters.

Why don't they just come out in support of the Church's right to burn heretics at the stake?
