Bill Moyers: Liberal vs Conservative

Good watch even if the guest is a dick.
http://billmoyers.com/episode/how-do-conservatives-and-liberals-see-the-world/

Gives some insight into the differences between the mindsets and thought patterns of the two viewpoints.

The reason I call Haidt a dick is that he admits that he is a Conservative but calls himself non-partisan and repeatedly asserts that liberals are ineffective as well as using using Rovian phraseology. He also pulls "facts" out of his ass.

Still, it's a good watch and might be useful in understanding the conservative mind-set.

a lot. He professed to be bi-partisan, then kept saying things out of the conservative play book.

And I, personally, am tired of all the 'blame the baby boomers' ideology out there. Cripes, we did live through some crap times, we weren't ALL over-privileged children. We lived through the cold war, diving under our desks in some sick charade of 'surviving the Big One', we watched as a beloved president was shot in the streets of Dallas, saw friends go (and not come back) from a vastly unpopular war, lived through the Civil Rights fights, saw more leaders killed, watched cities burn, saw Chicago become a police state, saw a president resign in disgrace.

It wasn't exactly all a bed of roses, as Haidt said 'those baby boomers are polarizing'. Really? We don't always trust 'the man'?

Well, maybe so, but we also got stuff done, too. I marched for a lot of rights that folks today take for granted, and yep, I'm still a 'flaming liberal' too.

Sorry to rant all over your post, but that Haidt guy really stuck in my craw.

his conclusions were flawed. Probably because he wanted to sound so "fair and balanced". It's great to have an open mind. Which most of us think we do. But it's quite another to excuse bigotry, willful ignorance and intolerance.

had come to identify more with Conservative principles because they more closely match human nature. In almost the same breath he self identified as non partisan.
