Jail letter threatening Obama, Bennet, nets Larimer inmate 7 years
A federal judge has sentenced a Larimer County jail inmate to seven years in prison for threatening President Barack Obama and U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and spitting in the face of an FBI agent.
Thomas Daniel Sanchez, 25, was an inmate at the Larimer County Detention Center when he wrote a letter to Bennet, saying he was in touch with a terrorist group that had plans to kill the senator and suggested there was also a plot against the president.

"At the end of the interview, Sanchez stood up and deliberately spit in the face and eyes of one of the FBI agents," according to the release. "When warned not to do that again, the defendant leaned forward and threatened the agent."
An agent restrained Sanchez until jail officials escorted him out of the interview room.
Following the interview, Sanchez continually called the FBI's Fort Collins office, repeating his threats. He said he was "anti-government" and "a known terrorist," and claimed to have access to guns and a plane.
At a second FBI interview, Sanchez said that he intended to kill the president. Sanchez continued writing letters between June and September 2011 repeating his threats.
