I think the Feds already have Snowden in their sights.

And they were only waiting until they located him to make their move. I would not be surprised if he is in custody before the weekend is over? There's an empty cell right next to Manning, I suppose?

But it's no big deal... Right?

is going to be quite a while before they get him. He'll claim he is being targeted for his politics and make the process much harder. I think the feds are hoping to call his bluff. They really hope Hong Kong will turn him over, or that we will come willingly, but I don't think they have him.

..is that government do not want to appear incompetent or incapable of catching criminals. I suppose they have been communicating with the Hong Kong authorities for the last few days? And why did they wait so long to press charges? You may be right but I think are very close to an arrest.

It isn't up to them to locate him as long as he's in Hong Kong, so it won't make them look incompetent if Hong Kong doesn't nab him right away.

They have to file a formal extradition request. Then Hong Kong, if he is still there, has to review it. The Hong Kong extradition process is currently under review by its government so nothing will happen until that concludes.

Manning is in a military detention facility. Snowden is a civilian, not subject to the Uniform Code.

If he's detained, and not granted bail, he'll go to a federal facility.
