A situation dripping with irony.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The United States government charged former intelligence analyst Edward Snowden with spying on Friday, apparently unaware that in doing so it had created a situation dripping with irony.

At a press conference to discuss the accusations, an N.S.A. spokesman surprised observers by announcing the spying charges against Mr. Snowden with a totally straight face.

“These charges send a clear message,” the spokesman said. “In the United States, you can’t spy on people.”

Seemingly not kidding, the spokesman went on to discuss another charge against Mr. Snowden—the theft of government documents: “The American people have the right to assume that their private documents will remain private and won’t be collected by someone in the government for his own purposes.”

“Only by bringing Mr. Snowden to justice can we safeguard the most precious of American rights: privacy,” added the spokesman, apparently serious.

Very clever. Snowden points out that our government is collecting data on all Americans and you say he should be punished.

But of course. The kid that pointed out the Emperor had no clothes would be lynched by your kind.

So you cant stand those that dare to challenge your authoritarian leader.

What is ironic about Law enforcement officials enforcing the law? Snowden signed a solemn oath to not commit treason by spying on the US for other entities. When he gave our secrets to china and their political agents he commited treason and endangered the lives of American agents.
I supose the only true irony is the fact that extreme right wing organizations like the teabagger faction are the ones that recommended and endorsed using the NSA to spy on Americans- while president Obama is the honest one that has been trying to clean-up the perversions of the bush doctrine of spying on every American all the time.
Each man has his price and snowden's was pretty low.
