Presidential Oath: "...preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Not the country, the constitution of the United States.

From Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution, the oath that the president must take:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

In Addition, all Uniformed Officers (the military especially) must also take a similar oath:

"I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.[1]"

From what I've read, so do members of Congress

And *gasp* even the NSA:

http://www.nsa.gov/commitment/nation/

"Each employee takes a solemn oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

Thus, anyone who has taken this oath and does not support and defend the constitution of the U.S. has broken their oath, and violated the requirements of their job, and its clear that many people in Congress as well as the President have done just that.

Tell me that the people who are against NSA spying aren't the real patriots? Or are the apologists going to delude themselves, thinking that the NSA surveillance is not violating the 4th amendment, nevermind threatening the 1st amendment's freedom of speech and freedom of the press?
