Fox News viewers normally would not like Zimmerman. They are using him.

Very early on when this stuff first broke a number of Conservatives on the radio were completely against Zimmerman and the callers calling in were ripping him apart as a wanna be vigilante. I know because I tuned in to see what they were saying and they were repulsed by him. However, FOX knew that if this was going to be a money maker they needed to take a side and so they did. This happened within just a few days and then things started to shift very quickly. Word went out to Hannity, Beck, Rush etc. that Zimmerman was their man to make it a war between the right and the left. So, the viewers saw what their leaders were saying and just started buying it and regurgitating it. Zimmerman may think he has friends on the right but they are just using him and will throw him to the side once they are done with him. Zimmerman has no friends, just another tool.

On edit I do want to point out that a lot of the early callers were also against Trayvon but it was more like a 60 / 40 split with the hard core racists against Trayvon right from the beginning. The others were pulled over by their masters.

Other conservative media like National Review initially threw Zimmerman under the bus right away.

Take a look at their current coverage and it's a complete 180.

Apparently, they view a white Hispanic as more appropriate to defend than an African American victim. Not to mention they get to use him to push their extremist fear-driven pro-gun agenda.

A contemptible lot, for sure.
