California Communities Rising Against Fracking Tour Visits Fresno Sat July 13 6pm to 8:30pm

California Communities Rising Against Fracking Tour Visits Fresno
Sat, July 13, 6:00pm – 8:30pm
Where: Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno, 2672 E. Alluvial, Fresno

Description
Soon Big Oil will be fracking the Monterey shale underlying western Fresno County and the San Joaquin Valley as well as the Coast Range. This is a dicey and dangerous proposition at best and threatens both the water we drink and the air we breathe. How will our local community meet this threat? The California Communities Rising Against Fracking Tour can provide valuable insights into how to confront the fracking threat and defend our community. We will have a potluck dinner at 6:00 PM followed by the speakers at 6:30. Speakers include Shannon Biggs of Global Exchange; Roy McKee of Whittier Hills Oil Watch; Adam Scow Food & Water Watch; Andrew Grinberg, Clean Water Action; Paul Ferrazzi, Citizens Coalition for a Safe Community, Culver City; and Gary Lasky of the Sierra Club Tehipite Chapter, as well as L.A. county residents who have been fighting fracking in their neighborhoods. Co-sponsors: Sierra Club Tehipite Chapter, Food & Water Watch, Clean Water Action, WILPF Fresno, Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno Social Action Committee, EarthWorks, Fresnans Against Fracking

Everyone should look at Google Maps Satellite pictures of south Texas, around Kenedy, down to Laredo. Thousands of rectangular white pock marks all around. The drilling rigs may be gone, but the dusty caleche oil pads remain. And they'll stay there until the hole is plugged.

Same thing west of Denton, Texas.

in a geologically sensitive area? Earthquake prone? Are they planning to frack the San Andreas fault? Why would the state take any chances?
