Go ahead, Harry. Do it!

The Republicans are betting the farm that you don't have the balls to do it. If you have 51 Democrats, go ahead and change the rule. It's a minimal change. Make it good for only this session of Congress.

In other words, it would need to be approved again in 2014 and 2016 in order for it to continue. But the Republicans have left you no choice. They have effectively shut down the government. They have deliberately blocked everything this President proposes. That goes against the will of the voters. A good majority voted for Barack Obama and the Democrats the last election, as I recall?

Put it in the bill that it is only good for two years and any changes to the law, other than for executive nominations, would require 60 votes to change.

Go ahead Harry! Stop this nonsense by the Republicans. Their filibustering of everything, including the President's nominations, require you to act.

Harry won't do jack. He lost his spine many years ago and couldn't find it if his life depended on it. I guess these fools don't get that enough empty threats and people just start laughing at you.

And he should step down and let someone else give it a try. It needs to be done. Mitch McConnell and the Repubs are not going to change anything unless they are forced to. If the Repubs win the Senate in the next election, they would have to re-new the law because it would sunset every two years. But Democrats don't usually block Republican President's nominations anyway - at least very few. That is a gamble that has to be made.

... that this is the time to help them make up for what they did that screwed us last time, so that they can repair the rift they might have with many of their voters. I'm thinking especially a senator like Barbara Boxer, who was on that list, who should be all about wanting to reform the filibuster to support her constituencies wishes. Even Feinstein, who at the time was trying to push through a gun control bill through the Senate, and blocked these rule changes then, in effect blocked her own bill, and had many people questioning her real commitment to pass that bill or to just to present it for "appearances"...

It was there to be used within an envelope of civility and sense...as a last resort. But assholes ruin everything.
