FWIW Premium, I think your posts are intelligent and worth reading. One thing I have noticed that you are good about (and maybe just because it is contrasted by some others doing the opposite) is that you don't just assume that because someone disagrees with you that they are bigots, racists, child molesters, serial killers, scum of the earth, worst-person-ever, etc.

I don't post a whole lot on here (I've been a member since 2002 or 2003), in part because as soon as you disagree with a lot of people (a lot, but not a majority thankfully) they start with the name-calling and assuming that anyone who disagrees with their position must be evil (basically).

Anyways, point is, keep up the good work. Thanks.

A second thing I've noticed: I might need to reign in my use of parentheticals.

I keep seeing is meme all over the Internets in relation to Zimmerman. Do they not realize that OJ was guilty, and that the only he reason he was found not guilty was the police framed a guilty man and then got caught in the frame-up?

And: that's a whole lot of angry, middle class white folk, waving signs and defending a murderer. And they're scared. They're scared because they look at the other wife's protestors and realize that every year, every televised trial, every set of protests, the all-white racist crowd is a little Breyer and a little smaller in number, and the side demanding justice is a little younger and a little more diverse on the color scale.

Not bullshit from you, but from Nevada's Eight Judicial. He deserved to go to prison for murder, he didn't, and that's not fair.

He didn't deserve to get a thirty year sentence for robbing his own stuff. He was unarmed and it was a first offense. The career criminals actually carrying guns got off with probation. That's not justice, that's the judicial system getting revenge for the judicial system's own mistake.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to give money for his defense fund or anything, and I'll probably sleep better knowing that entitled lunatics like him are off the street, but it wasn't a fair sentence.

My favorite bit of "LAPD Acting Like LAPD" was when Mark Fuhrman perjured himself on the stand, about being a racist.

"I'm not a racist, I've never used racist language, I've never used the N word, and I'm offended that you would even ask something of a member of the police force."

Then cue interview with reporter, same voice:

"Yeah, we frame n-s all the time, especially if we know they're guilty but don't have the evidence."

He damned near cut that poor woman's head off, and he walked on the charge because e LAPD got caught just doing what the LAPD does every day.

I don't think you're reading too much into it, the OJ trial and verdict is enough to work some white people into a foaming rage (even though it's been almost two decades since its conclusion). In their view, one black man (maybe) getting away with a crime more than makes up for every instance of African Americans getting railroaded and mistreated by the law and society.

The LAPD seemingly handed OJ a get out of jail free card. Between the evidence planting and the racism, I think it would have been almost impossible not to have "reasonable doubt".

But youre, right. Youre totally right. Thats exactly the excuse he's using to justify what Zimmerman did to Trayvon. Its thinly veiled racism in a four word sign. What a dickhead.

They don't mention, and probably never think about all of the times a black male has been railroaded by the justice system, and corrupt police departments. It's like a game to these people. A game where they arbitrarily keep score and allow cases like this, and the OJ fiasco to become apart of their cultural identity Also remember, it's not just race, it's also gun nuts who are hoping for an acquittal because this case is essentially putting their pet issues on trial (however, it could be argued that there is a significant overlap when it comes to these two groups).

I hadnt thought of that one. Gods forbid they lose their "right" to shoot whoever the hell they want. Indeed, those are the type of people who think the disproportionate amount of black people in prison is because black people commit most of the crime. Just a quick look at the innocence projects data on DNA exonerations proves how wrong they are and perfectly illustrates your point.

There have been 310 post-conviction DNA exonerations in the United States.

• The first DNA exoneration took place in 1989. Exonerations have been won in 36 states; since 2000, there have been 243 exonerations.

• 18 of the 310 people exonerated through DNA served time on death row. Another 16 were charged with capital crimes but not sentenced to death.

• The average length of time served by exonerees is 13.6 years. The total number of years served is approximately 4,135.

• The average age of exonerees at the time of their wrongful convictions was 27.

Races of the 310 exonerees:

193 African Americans
93 Caucasians
22 Latinos
2 Asian American
