The 1992 LA riots were in, well, LA. Over near Korea town. There were concerns elsewhere. I was in Westwood and the place was locked down. The riots were East of me by, oh, 10 miles? I keep thinking they were more or less due east, but my mental freeway map is (a) rusty and (b) not very well related to the cardinal points on a map.

The trial was in Simi Valley, in Ventura County. Just go North up the 405 a ways from Westwood and turn West. Perhaps 30-40 minutes by freeway?

There wasn't much of a riot where the trial was held. Entirely different county.
