Espionage or Patriotism?

It appears DU is pretty much evenly split on the matter? But that proves nothing.

What secrets were given to the enemy that they did not already have and most Americans knew about already? Doesn't espionage consist of some very secret information being given to an enemy? It is a betrayal of the American people. It is a betrayal of the American government. Aren't they both one and the same??

Snowden says he gave the information to the journalists and newspapers to benefit the people and requested that the newspapers use their own discretion in what to release or not release? If we don't trust our government and we don't trust the free press, then we are screwed.

Of course, Snowden says he gave no information to the Chinese government or the Russian government. We can believe him or not. We cannot prove either way. We cannot assume that the Chinese nor the Russian press are as trustworthy as our own free press.

Maybe they never were the same thing, but it seems these days that our gov't is much more aligned with corporate/mic interests that with the interests of the American people.

Eisenhower warned us...
