Poll - 78% of Young Women Favor Weiner
<snip>
Anthony Weiner loves the ladies, and apparently they love him back.
Sugar daddy dating website SeekingArrangement.com found that 78 percent of female clients aged 18-26 approve of Weiner.
The website, which connects wealthy patrons with attractive clients, surveyed over 18,000 of its female members and discovered that 63 percent of all women surveyed approved of the New York City mayoral hopeful, with the highest approval ratings coming from the 18-26 demographic.

(4,734 posts)a libertarian troll and worse for standing up for Edward Snowden long before others fell in on here. At this point I concede a Weiner victory is highly unlikely. However, if you remember anything about Bill Clinton, Richard Mellon and the Arkansas commission, I would point out that there truly is a right wing apparatus in place to discredit and take down real progressive canidates. And, I unhappily concede that Weiner by all means should have known better, had he even stopped his online activities after resigning, he would still have a chance. It just sickens me to see Democrats get shamed by the puppet media while Repugs get away with murder and are scott free to go their merry way, happily screwing us for the 1%. I hope you understand.
p.s. - at some points over the the last 10 years, I have lived outdoors. "Under the bridge" is a last resort. Shelters and ones car are a little better.

Weiner: Obama admin. 'half-pregnant' with health industries
By Jordan Fabian - 10/20/09 03:56 PM ET
Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) said on Tuesday that the Obama administration is "half-pregnant" with health insurers and pharmaceutical companies, which may jeopardize the success of reform.
The congressman -- who is a leading liberal voice in the healthcare reform debate -- said that rumored deals the White House has struck with big pharmaceutical companies and insurers may guide them to abandon key elements of reform, such as a public health insurance option.

(115,706 posts)progressive candidate out there. "Big Pharma" and the insurance companies aren't trying to get rid of him; they don't have much reason to: For all his big talk he was actually a rather ineffective Congressman who never accomplished much. Why would they bother to "get rid" of him when he's doing such a great job of marginalizing himself? And his position on the Israel/West Bank situation is rather bizarre and waaay out of the progressive mainstream: He actually claims Israel is not occupying the West Bank. And he's a dishonest creep who disrespects women and humiliated his wife, which doesn't say much about his "progressive" values.

Essentially it's a man (or woman, granted - though the term becomes "sugar momma" trading "gifts" of money or merchandise for sexual companionship. Female clients on this site are thus, pretty much by definition, looking for wealthy men to fuck. Wiener happens to be a wealthy man who has made his interest in fucking quite well known.
Frankly the bigger story is that even among that clientele, 23% find Wiener too much of a skeeze to go after.

Given his very real collapse in the polls, voters want him to go spend more time with his family, his therapist and go away.
Any politician that becomes the issue in this way...is pretty much done.
There is more, we are living it in San Diego, Anthony could cost the city money, and potentially, given his behavior, could paralyze city hall.
Finally, what you are defending is not just a narcissist (requirement for model politics), but a man who has very little respect for social boundaries or women. That is what you are defending.
And don't tell me to go take a nap. Bluntly, Anthony Weiner is done.

Weiner: GOP Is 'Wholly Owned Subsidiary Of The Insurance Industry'
The Republican Party is "a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance industry," Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) charged on the House floor. When Republican Rep. Dan Lungren (Calif.) objected to the accusation and took the extraordinary step of asking that Weiner's "words be taken down," Weiner pushed back.
"You really don't want to go here, Mr. Lungren," Weiner said. Asking that words be taken down is a move on the House floor that is rarely made and carries great weight.
Weiner, after a pause, asked to have his words withdrawn and said he'd substitute new ones. "Make no mistake about it. Every single Republican I have ever met in my entire life is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the insurance industry," Weiner clarified.

However, this guy has promised one of these women a job, from what I remember. If I was a NYC voter, I would not want a guy in public office, on public time, texting his Carlos Danger to a woman and her being able to blackmail him. Even if she doesn't blackmail him, dispensing favors to your cyber-sex partner while you're a public official is rather unethical and probably illegal if the job is in the public sphere.
He needs to get help, work on his marriage, and go get a job in the private sector. He's toast, imho. YMMV.

The law has not caught up to cyber sexual harassment. I do not see what he is doing any different than Filner. The latter, we are covering the scandal, is hands on (and not the only scandal). Why it is easier to grasp as quite possibly sexual assault and battery.
Oh and offering a job could be pay to play, a serious crime...incidentally the Feds are looking at Filner for precisely that with developers right now.
I am as liberal as they come...but this has a certain level of narcissism and disrespect for women that is not acceptable, in public sector or private sector.
