I've never gave a great deal of though behind the movies besides the entertainment value, it made me think.

(36,470 posts)I remember the old Superman/Batman movies. I have not seen the new ones. A very interesting observation & a clever way to communicate it. I like the robot guy. Worth every minute!
The core message of superhero entertainment today*:
"...existing power structures are incompetent and what we really need is a small group of people with unlimited power & resources making all the decisions with no practical oversight."

(36,470 posts)I like to know how long a vid is before I click on it. I also like to give markers where something I referenced is.
This was a great vid & I think it's a topic our country needs to have. These "super heroes" are the US, stomping around the planet getting rid of the "bad guys," who of course, we define. Is this propaganda disguised as entertainment or is our entertainment industry a reflection of what we are? Either way, it's worthy of a discussion.
I would add another dimension to the discussion & ask how these new super heroes influence our already dominating, aggressive & violent concept of masculinity. Super heroes who don't care about greater good or collateral damage - are these really super heroes or are they egomaniacs wreaking havoc wherever they go?
Great vid. Thanks again!

(55,894 posts)like the difference between Batman and James Bond:
Superheroes are vigilantes working outside government
Superagents are working inside the government
I think Superheroes appeal to our inner teenager- the part of us who are primed to buck any and all authority.
