The GOP doesn't want to win the office of President since they have perfected the politics of

obstruction, they don't need it.

Also they avoid offering any solutions or blame, since their goal is to wreck any and all government program excepting the military.

The military is the only function of the federal government in their weird beliefs. They want to go back to a pre-constitution Confederacy, for a third try.

Knowing this, will it encourage or discourage our best to run or sit it out?

But maybe they are going for the speed record in dismantling everything - having a GOP prez, if the GOP holds both houses, would help with that.
Especially if the prez uses executive orders and vetoes.

but probably true.

They used to covet the Presidency. Now they have discovered how to block and sabotage the White House and the Democrats in the House and Senate, even when they are in the minority. So, they have hit the gold mine, as far as obstructing and blocking legislation and working thru their Governors and Legislatures to fulfill their agendas.

6. Nonsense. If they win the Presidency, they can install wingnut SCOTUS justices and legislatively

roll back Medicaid, etc, stop enforcing environmental laws, and they'd have control over the NSA.

of defunding it.

Also, SCOTUS and executive appointments/actions take place completely outside the purview of the House.

The Teahadists are royally pissed, actually, because they thought they were going to get some kind of revolutionary change in DC after taking the House.

Oops.
