Poll: Voters oppose shutdown threat over ObamaCare

Poll: Voters oppose shutdown threat over ObamaCare
By Sam Baker - 07/31/13 09:37 AM ET

Voters oppose forcing a government shutdown to defund ObamaCare, according to a new poll from the Morning Consult website.

The survey found broad opposition among registered voters to conservative Republicans' threat to shut down the federal government unless President Obama agrees to defund his healthcare law.

But by a two-to-one margin, voters said they would be less likely to vote for a lawmaker who cast such a vote,
according to the Morning Consult poll.

Forty-seven percent of registered voters said they would be less likely to vote for their member of Congress if he or she signs on to the shutdown threat, compared with just 28 percent who would be more likely to support a member of Congress because of the shutdown threat.

From your link.

"There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what ... who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... and so my job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives," Romney said.

Even Karl Rove knows it would be a disaster for the GOP. I think they will pick a different battle.

Obema needs to get out there and really challenge them. "You want to shut down the government over health care? Well then you should just do what you have to do. Come on. Stand up and be counted. No more of this hiding in the bushes taking sniper shots. You think that Americans want this? Then you go right ahead and we'll let the American people be the judge."

And even as the GOP leadership backs off, you keep calling them out on this EVERY day until they finally have to come out and say "Hey, we never wanted to stop Obamacare. We have no idea what the president is talking about." I mean, they have had 40 votes on this. It really is time they owned it.

Make them own their words.

I'm thinking those who would vote for it.. must feel they're in safe districts. In fact would lose if they didn't vote for it. Because their constituents are fux breathing assholes.
