How Corruption is Reported - Dems vs Repubs

DEMOCRAT:

Federal authorities arrested Trenton Mayor Tony Mack and more than half a dozen other people early Monday in connection with an ongoing corruption probe, NBC 4 New York first reported Monday.

Mack faces federal charges including conspiracy to obstruct commerce by extortion. Joseph "JoJo" Giorgianni, a top campaign contributor, and six others were also taken into custody. Information on their attorneys wasn't immediately available.

Mack, a Democrat, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted on extortion charges, prosecutors said.

In recorded conversations, Giorgianni said, "I can be bought," "We want this," "I like to do it the Boss Tweed way, you know, Boss Tweed ran Tammany Hall," and "Tony knows when I'm in for a penny I'm in for a pound," according to a criminal complaint.

REPUBLICAN:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/06/fbi-arrests-2-florida-mayors-on-corruption-charges/

The FBI arrested two South Florida mayors Tuesday on charges they were involved in kickback and bribery schemes.

The FBI says in a press release agents arrested Miami Lakes Mayor Michael Pizzi and Sweetwater Mayor Manuel "Manny" Marono at their offices and charged them in two separate complaints involving public corruption allegations.

(snip)

Pizzi is in his second term as mayor. He's an attorney who once worked for a high-profile criminal defense firm in Miami. He was elected in 2008.

Marono, a member of the Sweetwater City Commission since 1995, became mayor in 2003. He currently serves as president of the Florida League of Cities. He played a role in Gov. Rick Scott's transition team in 2011.

He played a role in Gov. Rick Scott's transition team in 2011. - Really? And what brand of politician would THAT be? Why not just say REPUBLICAN?

But that is a local Fox affiliate (you might protest), so why would they specifically use search terms that might include "Republican" and "corruption" together? Well, here is a LONGER report from the Miami NBC affiliate.

http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/Miami-Lakes-Mayor-Michael-Pizzi-Sweetwater-Mayor-Manuel-Marono-Arrested-By-FBI-on-Bribery-Related-Charges-Report-218525331.html

Florida Gov. Rick Scott said he has suspended Miami Lakes Mayor Michael Pizzi and Sweetwater Mayor Manuel Marono from office after they were arrested by the FBI on public corruption charges Tuesday.

Both mayors accepted thousands of dollars in bribes in separate schemes, authorities said.

(snip)

Marono is in his third term as Sweetwater's mayor, and Pizzi is in his second term in Miami Lakes.

(snip)

According to his bio on MiamiLakes-FL.gov, Pizzi was born and raised in Brooklyn and moved to South Florida in 1988. When Miami Lakes was incorporated in 2000, he was elected to the Town Council.

He was elected mayor in 2008 and reelected in 2012. He also serves as the attorney for the town of Medley and received his J.D. from the University of Miami, where he was first in his class, his bio said.

Marono became the youngest person elected to the Sweetwater commission at the age of 23 in 1995 and was elected mayor in 2003, according to CityofSweetwater.fl.gov.

In this article, you don't even get the mention of the relationship between the REPUBLICAN governor and these two corrupt mayors, one of whom (as we know from the other article) "... played a role in Gov. Rick Scott's transition team in 2011."

So, figure out, if you can, that Pizzi and Marono are REPUBLICANS with strong ties to REPUBLICAN governor Rick Scott. But the Democrat? Well, search engines will find "Democrat and Corruption" pretty easily with that report, won't they?

Knowledge is power - and it looks like HIDING IT is power, too. Subtle = NOT.

And for the record, a pox on all corrupt politicians who steal from their constitutients, no matter what party they hide within!
