Is This Why MSNBC is Bringing The Ed Show Back to Weekdays?
There has been much speculation this week about why MSNBC has decided to bring Ed Schultzs The Ed Show back to weekdays at 5pm, bumping an evidently distraught Chris Matthews to 7pm only. But one cable news watcher seems to have figured it out.
The Social Seers Charles McGuinness put together a chart showing how much Twitter buzz some of MSNBCs most popular weekday and weekend hosts have generated per broadcast hour over the last two weeks. As you can see below, the #edshow hashtag was in double the amount of tweets than any of the other shows, including Schultzs fellow weekend hosts Melissa Harris-Perry (#nerdland) and Steve Kornacki (#uppers). McGuinness points out that his data is through Sunday only, so it does not include any bump Schultz may have received from MSNBCs announcement.

Chris Matthews seems very anxious about this move. He's been pretty actively begging for people to stay with him in his new time slot.

(22,143 posts)Labor issues. Tweety is ok but is too much of an insider and never really deals with the actual cause of our problems. Sharpton is good, i like him but he's a total Obamabot. Hayes is good if a bit dry and wonky. Rachel is great for straight news. Lawrence is cool but on too late for me now.
Schultz focuses like a laser on the kitchen table issues that I, and many others apparently, care most about. Labor, income inequality and the sons of bitches that are and have been screwing us for decades.
