My biggest problem with all that is when did these service members get the right to question what conflict they participate in? I didn't much like being re-called for Gulf Oil War I because I knew it was all about the oil, but I went because that was the term of agreement. Pay me, provide for me and my families welfare plus give me ALMOST enough money to get a college education and I'll kill folks for you. Never read that part in my contract that said "unless I disagree with you".

But back to my question, how do you know it's not just folks playing dress up and stirring shit?

I was honestly asking. As a now non-soldier (he'll always be one) he is well within his right to protest and I support (and agree) with him. As for judging prematurely, I'm sure you can understand why a person would think these are active duty military as they are all dressed in military uniforms and are hiding their faces as if they might face severe penalties if they were identified.

I don't support military action in Syria as I don't see any good outcome. In fact, I think it'll make shit a LOT worse. But I also believe in being consistent. Didn't support Iraq. Did support kicking Taliban ass but not using our conventional military to hunt Osama. Obama did it right, IMHO. Bush would still be a fucking idgit even if he was a Democrat.

I haven't made up my mind yet on what to do. After the military I went into international relations with a concentration on the then USSR, now Russia. I had been MI when Putin was KGB.

So... From my background, I have some concerns about giving Russia a green light to continue dealing whatever arms they wish to the region. Like Iran. But we won't get to hear that debate. It's in the classified briefing. Which means it's a grave concern.

I have a feeling that's the crux of the matter. Iran and nukes with the help of Russia who is also the supplier of the CW to Syria.
