If I was rich, I'd buy up tons of copies of someone else's book just on principle.

People are just fucking stupid!

Or the publisher or someone related to the venture in order to receive the moniker "best seller". It's a constant suspicion of mine with people like Limbaugh or Glenn Beck.

It's how some books wind up on the best-seller list before they even hit the stores.

Wasn't all that long ago that a certain half-term governor and full-time ditz had a book that did that. It was also not that long ago that the same book was on dollar shelves.

Check this out:

This is a long-running phenomenon -- conservative books nearly always outsell liberal books in large part because of bulk orders. A couple of months ago, for example, Mitt Romney boosted sales of his book by requiring various schools, think tanks, and institutions to buy thousands of copies in exchange for his speeches. Various conferences and Republican outlets do this all the time.

Link in this article also has some theories as to why GWB outsold Clinton.

We also can't dismiss the many angry, white men that worship that piece of shit Limbaugh.

$1000 says his paid minions are buying up bulk orders of advance copies. We've seen this over and over with Conservative authors.

Then resell or give them away to idiots stupid enough to want them, and stupid enough to send an "offering" to get them "free." This is standard practice among the "culture war" crowd.

It's not a new game at all.

8. Yes, but let me explain why...

Sep 2013

...Limbaugh, like Hannity, Beck, Coulter, and the rest of the right wing peanut gallery have thousands of copies of their books immediately bought by various right wing groups and organizations. Then they turn around and offer them to their "subscribers" and "members" for pennies on the dollar or even free.

This allows such books to get further publicity by making the top selling lists, make the authors look legitimate and credible, and disseminates the books to the base.

If there's one thing the right wing fascists do well...it's propaganda.

It used to be that our guys could kick their asses in sales - Michael Moore had the bestselling book of the year with "Stupid White Men," Franken used to outsell O'Reilly

I know Al plays it safe since he got elected, but what's Moore's excuse?
Why are the top liberal authors MIA these days?

It may be harder to find evidence than in the past, but cancervatives' book sales are typically bulk, while liberals' book sales are typically one at a time.

Used to be, you could find plenty of left-leaning names in the top 10

Franken's last book was 2005, Moore's was 2011 (and a low-key anthology release at that), Jim Hightower's last one was 2008. Barbara Ehrenreich's was 2009. Ed Schultz 2010.

Other than Maddow, there hasn't been a big 'name' release progressive book in quite some time. And with all the nutbaggery of the tea party, there should be tons of material to work with.

I know this because, well, my office is done, and I wandered over to the "old" side of the building to visit my friends and she had this on.

They'd buy up big lots of the "Dianetics" books, artificially inflating the book sales numbers.

Conservative web sites like WND and NewMax do this nowadays, only instead of warehousing the books, they are given away with memberships to NewsMax or WND.

"For just $11.99 a year you can subscribe to NewsMax's EXCLUSIVE newsletter, and get the facts about the Kenyan communist in the White House plus as an added bonus you'll receive free Rush Limbaugh's enchanting new book for your children, to teach them the truth about our history, not leftist propaganda."
