As far as I am aware, Russia doesn't necessarily have a ton of world respect on these matters. Maybe he is simply trying to change that (as well as protect Russian assets in Syria). Maybe what he is doing isn't meant to have anything to do with Obama directly. Maybe the US isn't the center of the world
