Did anyone listen to Putin's statement this afternoon?

I see real problems ahead. I will post a few paragraphs. Heard
the statement this afternoon on CNN or MSNBC...I was switching
around. After Putin made it, I then heard the report from the UN
that Putin had pulled out of a meeting and it was after that it
was announced the senate would delay its vote.....which makes
more sense if you read below:

http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/09/10/20416189-syrias-foreign-minister-well-declare-chemical-weapons-sign-arms-ban?lite

•Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the proposal to place Syria's chemical weapons stockpile under international control will not succeed unless the United States and its allies reject the use of force against Syria.
“All this will work only in case we hear that American side and all those who support it will denounce using force,” Putin said in televised remarks.
•Putin’s statement came not long after President Barack Obama agreed to discuss the plan – just hours before he was due to address Congress and the American people to make the case for the use of military strikes if diplomatic solutions fail. According to a senior administration official, Obama was changing his speech Tuesday afternoon to reflect the latest diplomatic developments. The president does still believe that a military option has to stay on the table, an official said, in response to Putin's suggestion.
•A Tuesday afternoon emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council was put on hold after Russia -- who had requested it originally -- withdrew its request, U.S. officials said.

the statement...it was more detailed. But here goes: he mentioned
the no nation would unilaterally give up what Syria is being requested
to do and leave itself open to attack... if the U.S. passes the right of
the President to attack even though we know it's 'in case' it's needed
in the future.

I don't think any of us should be ashamed of trying to broaden our Media Viewing. That old Communist Thing...has run its course. Would you want your local library or book store to CENSOR your reading?

Same with News Watching. Enlightened Minds and all that. Only Freepers want to have their news filtered by FAUX/Limbaugh/RW Think Tanks/Drudge and Jerry Falwell and the Fundie Churches.

Hey...Just saying. I don't think any of us should be ashamed to watch RT or the DW/German/French TV America/BBC, AlJazeera or the many other TV from other countries available if one speaks the language.

posts. Mentioning that in the last month I'd seen DU'er Steve Leser who has radio show on debating on RT, and Howard Dean was interviewed along with even NSA Spy Chief from Bush Years...Gen. Michael Hayden...plus lots of Lib Dems who aren't seen (between the endless commercials here on US TV) who get little time with the preening "Hosts and Hostesses" on CNN, etc.) Jimmy Carter was on RT for a Full Enterview...so many that don't get air time here.

So...I think it's just those who still believe that Russia is the "Soviet Union"...BAAAD GUYS and others who get some pay to play here and perhaps just some Repugs who fell away from the other side of the blanket who aren't as open minded as most of us here who want to censor what we watch, read and post. They can be as bad as the old Soviet Union Politboro or the Stasi...at time. ... or sometimes it seems that way

Assad obviously wants assurances that if he gives his weapons up he won't wake up with 75k+ US troops at his door next week.

Will we really back off, or will we do a backdoor use of force authorization from the UN?

Tonight's speech is likely to be interesting.

It could be over soon and would be over if the US wants peace. If the US WANTS a war, expect this to drag out for many days until the Pres can wrangle a blank check out of the Senate (yknow for his credibility, so he looks serious) and they will then say Oh but we exhausted every diplomatic alternative. Our good will (LoL) has been trampled on and so now we just have to bomb!

President Obama has been given a serious out...and if he still wants to go all in, there will be no question he is doing the will of PNAC.

If he does that, his base is gone. Period. Even my die hard Dem relatives who are not very politically aware told me something that spooked me:

"Why is he pushing so hard for this...when we have so many problems at home? Isn't he listening to us?"

but he's saying Syria can't give up it's 'protection' under a threat of
war by the U.S. or its allies. Then the weapons are still in his
backyard.
