"internet" - (small I) - a public or private collection of computer networks.

"Internet" - (capital I) - the public world-wide system of connected computer networks normally associated with websites and email and online forums and online shopping.

Both systems use software and protocols originally developed by/for the DOD decades ago to connect the universities doing DOD research.

Each network consumes physical and financial resources. Subdividing a network quickly reaches the point of diminishing returns.

of any word processing program or Internet site that I have accessed through any of my browser choices allows for the lower case "i" as in internet unless I add it myself.

There seems to be an ongoing disagreement on capitalized vs. lower case, Internet as a proper noun and internet originally from the word internetworks.

Strange knowledge.

no one usually refers to any network as an "internet" besides the common, world-wide Internet. Lots of intranets. Lots of wide-area networks (WANs). Only one &quot i/I)nternet". Even at work where we are spanning multiple physical locations, it is "corpnet".

"Preditor/Prey"...and how the Hunter survey's the Landscape as to the best strategy. The cat knows they are mostly a "lone Predator" to feed their young to populate going forward

Dogs...on the other hand are "Team Players." They LOVE the PACK TEAM...and if isolated they will go with their Owners...who is the TEAM LEADER. Once they escape they do their strategy with the TOP DOG who they follow.

I'll pick a CAT for individual Strategy over a Dog....ANY DAY!

Dogs have the advantage of the "BARK" which tends to ward off intruders, though. So fearful folks are inclined to pick the "BIG BARK" whereas CATS don't get into that kind of thing. (Except Siamese who are known for their YOWL which can put the fear of Spirits into one).

So...I won't ever be protected by my CAT....the Lone Hunter who uses strategy for it's own preservation...but, to have a DOG with a LOUD/Threatening Bark...allows many to be safe and just don't let them out of the Leash where they become WOLVES!

LOL's

You can tell that I'm a Cat Lover...and that I am vulnerable because while there are Cats who save their "Owners".....the BARK OF THE DOG...defrays ATTACKS...more than the low voiced "MEOW" of the cat and even their claws and hissing.

I love the Cat Community even though I realize they just aren't working for us the way the Dogs Do....

Just saying from my years of observation...Loving both Dogs and Cats....but it's more convenient for our lifestyle to have cats. Siamese are particularly useful in what I've said above being more Doglike than the ordinary cats that most of us dwell with.

39. Old Bulletin Board Systems:

You ran some BBS software on your computer and people could dial in directly to your system and play games, write text messages, etc - they had to know your phone number of course Most of the ones I worked with had multiple lines so several people could be on at the same time, a few you had set times you could call in.

Really slow, but was how we did it back then.

From Wiki:

A bulletin board system, or BBS, is a computer system running software that allows users to connect and log into the system using a terminal program. Once logged in, a user can perform functions such as uploading and downloading software and data, reading news and bulletins, and exchanging messages with other users, either through email, public message boards, and sometimes via direct chatting. Many BBSes also offer on-line games, in which users can compete with each other, and BBSes with multiple phone lines often provide chat rooms, allowing users to interact with each other.

Originally BBSes were accessed only over a phone line using a modem, but by the early 1990s some BBSes allowed access via a Telnet, packet switched network, or packet radio connection.
