Bill Clinton on gun control

If you want reasonable gun control like expanded background checks, you have to punish those who vote against it at the ballot box. Don't vote for a politician who votes against gun control provisions. The fact that 90% of the nation supports background checks is currently trumped by the intensity of the fringe 10% who oppose them. YOU need to decide you care enough about the safety of your communities to link your vote to gun control.

The other way to promote effective gun control: Citizen ballot measures.

See his interview with Piers Morgan on CNN.

When you throw up your hands and say we can't do anything, you are allowing the gun lobby and Ted Nugent types to determine this country's future. Americans deserve better.

Yes, ballot measures, but also punish the ones that vote against gun control. We need to be every bit as determined as the pro-gun side.

But we have to re-build the party from the ground up. Right now it is millions of dollars in debt and OFA is still siphoning off monies. I did notice that in this past week the President has finally stopped saying "some people" or "the opposition" and called them out by name - Republicans. That is a start but right now we don't really stand for much of anything. We have no "brand". Hopefully after the ACA kicks in we can start over.

Meanwhile, everyone is somewhere between very anxious and scared to death about their economic future and into that mass despair has stepped a couple of angry men - Cruz and Paul. No one really knows what they represent but they know they are mad too so the folks wrongfully think they must be on the side of the people. About 90% of the voters don't really know anything about policy and vote on personality and unfortunately the Repubs have the perfect demagogues to fill the bill.
