I live in an area full of military and civilians that work at Offutt Air Base. Several civilians in my subdivision stayed home today and not by choice.

Went in today and signed my letter and had my employees sign theirs and sent all but one home.

they didn't LOSE their jobs, they were FURLOUGHED.
Happened to me years ago, and I returned when sanity prevailed. They will, too.

Furloughed, after 30 days then it becomes a reduction in force (RIF) and then some will lose jobs.

different circumstances, change in legislation enabling existence of agency I worked for resulted in its demise, so I became a FORMER government employee.
