We are polling in the 70s. Obama's approval is north of 50. Congress(R) has a 13% approval.
All good stuff.
But then there's that damned liberal media, spinning shit. To hear the yakking class on the topic, you'd think that Dems and Rs made a suicide pact to work together to shut it down. The media is repeating the same spew that comes from the likes of Marsha Fucking Blackburn.
The only thing I wish for (apart from political sanity) is a stronger voice from our side. Yes, I know that whoever on our side is speaking is saying the right things. The problem is volume and volume. They need to sound louder and tougher (Volume 1). And they need to be on TV more (Volume 2). Wall to wall, if possible. They need to be seen as FIGHTING. Fighting FOR the people and fighting AGAINST political terrorists.
We need to hear our side start to sound like tough guys.
An enemy that can't be overlooked is the media. In my view, they are very unhelpful right now. Hence my call for better/different optics from our side.

(103,856 posts)THAT id the "story" folks.. The MEDIA created the tea party juggernaut.. The MEDIA giggles, laughs & jokes about these things and turns them into entertainment...while they just repeat talking points.
What they should be doing is reporting on how false those talking points are, and how "BOTH SIDES" are NOT obstructing...

(67,808 posts)While "we" can do it on a one to one basis as we meet people, our elected political team are the "WE" who *need* to do it.

(11,804 posts)It's hard to fight but on top of what you suggest, we need to sound like tough guys in our own workplaces and families and friends. Some of you are lucky enough that you have no conservative friends, but if you do have friends from all sides of the aisle, tell them what's going on. Tell them that the Republicans have tried to defund and delay the Affordable Care Act time and time again and haven't succeeded. And now they are trying to do it through hostage taking.

(9,385 posts)Sen. Mike Lee's letter and the GOPers' "Williamsburg Accord" are two things which both show this was planned by them, and only them, and that is all abundantly on the record, referenced in lots of articles. A Google search on either term turns up lots of them, these are only a few.
