General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsOver 24 hours later, I still can't get onto Healthcare.gov
It keeps locking me out for various reasons. Usually the security questions don't come up. I've tried every browser I know, I don't think that's it. I got as far as the point where it was going to send me a confirmation of account email with a link to complete registration -- I got an email with gobbledygook and no working link. Dead end.
Alas, frustrating, but ... I think this means there is an overwhelming public response from people such as myself who need decent insurance they can hopefully afford.

(6,581 posts)Not like it's the Bridal Clearance at Filene's, they won't run out of policies in the next 2 days. We have until Dec. 15th if we want coverage 01/01/14, so I heard.

(6,581 posts)I cost them a lot of money in the past 2 years. They cost me a lot more by NOT covering a ton of stuff.
Screw Blue Cross unless it can do a lot better for me than it does now.

(62,423 posts)Do you have any navigators in your area? If you do, maybe it would be best to try to see one of them.

I think they are usually in the larger cities. I am in eastern Iowa so my navigators are in Cedar Rapids and Davenport.
They are usually in a local community health center or something like that.
I googled 'healthcare navigator. It took me here https://www.healthcare.gov/contact-us/ - go to the bottom of the page where it asks for your zip code. Put in your zip and you should get a list of navigators nearby. I get 34 results for my zip.

(13,992 posts)With the government shut down, it may be far (far) more difficult to resolve IT issues that under normal circumstances. A lot of the people who would be otherwise tasked with resolving these issues may be furloughed.

(23,156 posts)when you do get signed up remember that actual coverage doesn't commence until January 1, 2014.
I thought the four year delay in the original bill was a bad idea. I can only hope that millions of those who are signing up in these first days will get very angry when they finally understand that they still have to wait for the coverage to kick in.
Remember the doctor who was elected in 2010 who was very upset when he found out that there was a 30 day delay before his Congressional health care coverage began?

(37,457 posts)I would not even try registering and doing your application before 10 PM EST. If you can somehow stay awake until 2 or 3 AM, I would try it then. A big hassle, I know, but maybe better than waiting a few weeks ? If not, I would wait a week or two. The servers are just overwhelmed right now.

The frustrating part was where I could get to the registration pages but the security questions wouldn't come up or the email link never showed up or didn't work.
Overwhelmed, yes it is. But a good sign there is demand and support for ACA.

(37,457 posts)1- Clear your browser cache. If you need help with this, just ask.
2- Reboot your cable or DSL modem if you are using one of those ISP's. If you are on dial-up, this doesn't apply obviously.
3- Reboot your router if you are using one.
4- Clear your DNS cache. Again, ask if you need help with this.
Last resort is to call your ISP. I would simply try very late at night or 2 or 3 AM if you can. Very early morning, like 5 AM might work too.

Wait and do it another day. You have nearly the rest of the year to sign up. Why do make yourself part of the problem and then complain about it?

(5,049 posts)People like me are trying to sign on to see what the rates looks like. I will not be using the exchange since I am one of the lucky ones who gets pretty great coverage and a decent price - thanks to being a state employee. But I'm afraid there are probably plenty of folks like me that are just gumming up the system with our incurable curiosity..
Sorry About That!
