How do you guys stand to watch this shit?

Yesterday I noted elsewhere how worthless our national news media is. I had eschewed news programming for over 6 months and, with an interest in the looming .gov shutdown I decided to dip in to news coverage.

Boy what an eye-opener!

I don't have to tell you that our news sucks. I've been reading that assessment here on DU for years. But watching after a prolonged absence in a lesson in how the world really works. I type this as I watch The Daily Rundown with Chuckie Todd. This "news" program is so heavily slanted to the right and so hateful of anything left of center to the point of absurdity. Also, all of the "news" programming is so poisoned with the agenda of the check-signers it's completely unwatchable.

Chuck Todd just told several lies without even drawing a breath. For several minutes everything he said was complete bullshit, based on absolutely nothing real. He played sound bits that made it look as if the Democrats are at fault for our current paradigm. He showed a clip of Rep. Mike Simpson (R) Idaho saying "When the House and the Senate disagree on something they ask for a conference and when they go to conference they work that out. But when my "good friends" (emphasis quotes mine) on the other side of the rotunda they chose to say 'No, we don't even want to talk about it. We don't care what you want. We don't want to talk about it.'" This was followed by a clip of Louie Gohmert saying basically the same thing.

What wasn't mentioned by Chuckie Toad was that Democrats had offered to go to conference several times and the rethugs refused. Now they are whining about it and Toad fails to call them on it.

I end this comment with a question: You guys are really smart and you don't suffer BS or misinformation here on DU so why do you give these "news" channels a Neilsen hit every day?

would make fun of the Soviet Union's Pravda and broadcast media?

Our news media is now that party, company store propaganda media.

Corporate Media, Inc. (R) is a dangerously poisonous influence.

He's a douche. I was listening on satellite. I turned him off and went over to Stephanie Miller. Why doesn't he go work at Fox News? He could be their faux, token liberal counterpoint. If he played his cards right and sucked up to Ailes, he might even get a bigger salary than he gets with MSNBC.

We used to have such a great A.M. morning show here in Colorado with Dave Sirota. Occasionally, I had issues with his opinion, but he would dig into topics and I would find out things happening in the state or fed govt that I wouldn't find elsewhere. He left to go do a crossfire type show with "heckuva job Brownie" on the Rush limbaugh A.M. station. I knew it was a bad move for Sirota and sure enough the show is no longer on. I never listened anyway.

But now we have Gloria Neal in the morning in that time slot and she's awful. She allows these tea baggers on her show to spout their bullshit. They're the same ones too, like they sit around in morning waiting to call in and they are granted access to air time every time they call in. She seldom smacks them down. I'd say she's like a female version of David Gregory only on smaller, less influential platform (thank God). She claims to be liberal but she's a pretty right liberal if you ask me. She sucks and I haven't listed to AM radio since. I stick to satellite.

to access the healthcare.gov site yesterday. Toad lied and reduced and claimed that only around 1 million attempted to access the site.

Lies. That's what our news media peddles.

with false information and lies and then the polls begin to change in favor of the repubs.

Koch fueled groups are already buying ads to help the tea baggers cause and give them some good PR.

'ratings'. Almost no one watches these shows. A few hundred thousand. Last Breaking Bad episode had over 10 million.
I can't find ratings to show you, is 'Daily Rundown' the name of a show?

and all of his administration's lies and tomfoolery began, I asked my mom how in the world I was ever going to dig out the truth of any issue. She told me to read editorials. She read everything she could get her hands on. And was an avid watcher of Sunday morning news discussions. In addition to those, I also began watching the PBS news shows, but they are not a whole lot better than network news. Network news programs are worthless.
