The pope rocks ...

Asked if there is a single vision of good, and who decides, Francis says:

“Each of us has a vision of good and of evil. We have to encourage people to move towards what they think is good .?.?. Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them. That would be enough to make the world a better place.”

This pope is making too much sense ... and that might be a problem for some

BTW .. I am an atheist who is beginning to agree with a religious leader.

Pope Francis says he wants a missionary church with a modern spirit modern spirit that gives hope to the poor, young and elderly, speaking as key meetings begin on church reform.

Francis gave a lengthy interview to the editor of Rome daily La Repubblica that was published Tuesday as Francis began meeting with his parallel cabinet of eight cardinals tapped to advise him on reforming the church.

In the interview, Francis denounces the "Vatican-centric" nature of the Holy See, explains his affinity for his namesake St. Francis and describes how he was "invaded by anxiety" after he was elected, but then excused himself from the Sistine Chapel, closed his eyes and was filled with a light that enabled him to accept the job.

The first round of talks with Pope Francis, and eight cardinals from around the globe, will focus on reforming the Catholic Church to get local church leaders more involved in helping make decisions for the 1.2-billion strong universal Catholic Church.

Talk is easy and the Pope has enormous power, so we're going to see how important the words are.

While I agree with the sentiment, pronouncements about religion by a religious leader don't really belong in GD.

This one, being on religion, will cause an unproductive ruckus. Because you will eventually get people with a different opinion on this Pope and on the Catholic Church and on religion in general.

Religious threads, Gun Threads (although not right now for reasons that escape me), Conspiracy threads, and a few others I'm not thinking of right now.

Man the admins are going to be busy.

Been here over 10 years and I have never seen GD be anything but a "ruckus"

The man represents one billion people, how they vote eg. He has handed a real blow to our very own Religious Right extremists regarding some of their favorite issues. That is likely to have real positive effects for those who have denied rights based on religion.
