Our government, still at work!

On Monday I went on-line to sign up for Social Security and Medicare, seeing as how I'm getting to be on the old side. Then, of course, that night the GOPers shut down the government, so all I could do is wonder whether and when my sign-up would get processed. But just a little while ago I got a phone call from an SS office in MO - a very nice man wanted to talk to me because he had looked at my application and wanted to explain there was another option that I could take that might be a better deal for me in some respects if I wanted to do it that way (changing the start date). So we discussed that for a bit, and after considering the situation did make this small change. And I commiserated with him about the shutdown and thanked him profusely for taking the time to call me about this little thing that might benefit me.

Damn greedy government employees....

I ever dealt with. I went to SS in person when the ex-husband died ( I was entitled to a part of his SS) and was taken at the right time, done and out in less than 30 minutes. Very professional people.
