What makes these Republicans think they can wage a war on Women in the first place?

Here are some figures that came from the 2010 Census:

30.7 million women have a bachelor's degree or higher.

7.8 million women own their own business.

7.5 million women work for women owned businesses.

71.9 million women work outside the home while only 5 million are stay at home moms.

205,500 women are active in the military.

46.2% of women vote (I expect that number to be higher this year!)

157 million number of females in 2010 vs 151.8 males

We are successful. We earn our own money. We do most of the shopping for ourselves and our families - we have the power to decided where to shop. Women are found in all lines of work. And just ask Susan Komen if we are a force to be reckoned with.
And WE VOTE!

Why have women become so successful? Because unlike generations before us we are able to control our own bodies.
We are able to have 2.4 kids when we want them. IF we want them.
Women are able to work outside of the home, raise amazing kids, keep the house clean and enjoy sex with our significant others without the worry of pregnancy. There is no data to back this, but I believe that women are excellent planners and managers.

Women have worked hard to get to this place - inspite of constant fights from men:

despite the numbers you posted. they are hoping that they can frighten us, humiliate us, dominate us, back into subservience.

and, to a degree, they have been successful. why didn't women leave the southern baptist convention in droves when the "wives shall be submissive to their husbands" plank became part of their platform? why are there still women in the rcc? why haven't we been out in the streets, in their offices, in their faces as they wage naked, open war upon us?

Email campaigns.
Blogging.
Facebook groups with calls to action.
And phone calls.

But I suspect that when and if something gets passed legislatively, there will be women marching once again.

Men vs women, gays vs straight, race war, class war, religious differences and anything else they can think of to create division. Their strategy is obvious, keep us focused on our differences while they rob us blind.

I know some of them, and sadly am related to some of them. They really are "out there" but they believe, with every fiber of their being, that most of the country agrees with them. They really really do.

Outside of their bubble ( fox news/corporate media, their own circle of other RW friends/asscociates, their church ) they have a hard time dealing with interactions with others and tend to view it not as a foray into the real world, but rather getting lost in a bad section of town.

Inside their heads, the world is a partriarchy, always has been and always will be. The world as it is doesn't rank as reality for them.

I tend to look at women as the real majority. The Republican machine recently manages to use similar tactics with minorities. The Republican Party stands for one basic principle "Vote against your own best interest".

It is aprt of the facist tactics trick bag.

Cow people into silence, then they will be free to move forward with their agenda of class war and religious war against anything not to their liking.

who are not even paying attention yet to what Rmoney, Santorum, etc., are saying.

It will be up to the Obama Campaign and the superpacs to endlessly replay the words/videos of these repuke knuckleheads in the weeks running up to the election.

And it will be up to us to remind the people we work with, worship with, bowl with, etc., of what these assholes have said and tried to do with regard to contraception, transvaginal probes and personhood amendments.

around 21 % of executive offices around the country and 23 % of legislative office at the state level.

Men are in office, particularly the ones that write and sign laws. It's that simple. They think they can because they are in office and women aren't. I imagine the war against women will continue until women gain equal representation in government.

scare the living shit out of them? They've lost control over us. Women are independent, powerful, smarter and that makes them irrelevant. No wonder they're scared.

I think they were baited into it by a conservative minority that is very vocal. The media, which amplifies shit to the Nth degree, picked up on it, and now there's no backing down. Rush and a few other nitwits just made a bad situation worse (or better, from our perspective).

For awhile it was a fun wedge issue for them to distract from a slow but steady upward glide on the economic front, but now I think they've dug the hole just a LEEETLE TEEEEENY WEE BIT too deep, and the ground is damper than they thought it was. So now, they're stuck in the mud, and all they can do is holler like fools and pretend that was their plan all along.

I think they know they're fucked this year.

What's the lesson here ? MA governors shouldn't run for the Presidency? If so, Deval had better do something else before he thinks about trying for it....
