Of course, Boehner is the ultimate reason we're still closed down.
But, much more insidiously and importantly, almost the entire Republican Party is in thrall to the Tea Party and their wishes. Elected Republicans will cow tow to their most extremist elements to avoid a primary challenge.
This post will let some people who vote Republican think it's still okay to vote Republican as long as their representative is not a Tea Party member (like my current Congress Critter). I want to at least attempt to disabuse them of that very wrong-headed notion.
In short: You simply can not vote Republican anywhere in the U.S. today unless you agree with the Tea Party agenda. The Tea Party agenda IS the Republican Party agenda today.
