When Tea Party leaders in the House say they were sent to Washington to destroy ObamaCare, cut the federal safety net and break "the dependence of the 47%" they are telling the truth. They ran anti-Obama campaigns and they won their elections. Millions of anti-Obama dollars are flooding into Tea Party coffers, with make good expectations. The Tea Party is well financed and powerful. In the house alone they represent approximately 14 million constituents. They have every right to and truthfully an obligation to wield whatever power they have to do the bidding of their faithful.
The revolution they demand is a far cry different from the middle class, working family hopes Obama rode to victory. The Tea Party crowds have traded pitchforks and torches for robocalls and mass mailings, crying, yelling for the destruction of President Barak Obama and all he upholds. They demand defunding social security, defunding medicare, defunding Head Start, defunding HUD/Fannie Mae, defunding WIC, denying the undocumented amnesty, denying choice over reproduction, destroying all rights gained and sought by LGBT, destroying affirmative action and equal protection laws, destroy unions.....(with so many D's they should have been called Democrats, they were at one point but that is a different story) amongst the others items the left champions. The Tea Party cry "BURN IT DOWN!" make them leave us alone.
President Obama refuses to just leave them alone, because he has a mandate and his is sooooo much bigger than theirs. Comparing the Tea party's mandate Obama got his mandate by crushing Mitt Romney in the 2012 election, receiving 332 to Romney's 206 electoral votes. While Tea Party members in the Congress represent 14 million constituents (assume they include non tea party members, but give them that) Obama received 62,611,250 popular Votes. Obama's mandate is like comparing a donkey's ass to an elephants', and everyone knows the elephant is the biggest ass on the planet.
As the Tea Party is expected to use every weapon in their arsenal to bring their revolution, President Obama has many options for dealing with the Tea Party revolution:
1. The power of compromise and negotiation; finding common ground to reach agreements. Finding reasonable solutions for dealing with our debt, growing the economy, changing tax laws and mutual compromise around social issues.
2. The power to delay and avoid conflict; Just agree to disagree, call a truce and kick the bucket down the road (let Hillary handle it)
3 The power to Engage in Conflict; if Tea Party leaders prove to be impossible idealogical zealots....Crush them! Force back their revolution by any means necessary; using veto power, use the bully pulpit, declare an emergency state, invoke martial law, create a trillion dollar coin, etc,.
Even with his mandate and assortment of powers, it is safe to assume Obama will always start at compromise and if that fails, end at kicking the bucket. If a Tea Party revolution happens, will the left, the 66 million who voted for Obama demand that He fight back, exercise his power and honor the mandate given to him?
Damn right will !!! We need him to.
Need has become a dirty word for the Tea Party, but we voted for President Obama to fight for our needs. We are not crazy, accepting that Obama is the leader of the free world, he must lose to gain, give to take, serve all Americans, but we did not work this hard only to have the Tea party destroy all of our progress. We haves millions on our side that sent funds to Obama's campaigns, made and continue to make calls to support the President every day. The Tea Party's mandate is laughable, but they will exercise every right they have to meet their goals. As the Tea Party brings their revolution to our door step, with their goal to burn down our house, I know that Our President stands ready to use the power of his mandate to protect our home.

Thanks I will remember that', thanks for looking at my post.
I looked it up, you are right:
"Even in the House, Democratic votes outnumbered Republicans by 1.7 million more votes. The only reason the GOP was able to keep control of the House was through district gerrymandering after the 2010 election."

(35,392 posts)MANDATE, according to Repugs.
Also remember, it's a landslide if the Republican wins with less electoral votes than the Dem wins with, which is NOT a landslide.
(oh, in case you need it ... )
