A candidate for the Delaware County Republican Party’s Central Committee was arrested yesterday, accused of throwing his opponent’s campaign literature down a sewer drain.

Rick A. Gemienhardt, 54, of 881 Africa Rd. in Berlin Township, was arrested by Delaware County sheriff’s deputies and issued a summons to appear in court on Thursday. He faces misdemeanor charges of theft, criminal mischief and littering, the sheriff’s office said.

Gemienhardt couldn’t be reached last night to discuss the charges.
