'Revenge on the Nerds' plays in House as IT officials grilled on HealthCare.gov's failure

Rep. Darrell Issa, the Republican bulldog who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, finally got his chance to hold a hearing on HealthCare.gov's problems, and it produced predictable results.

One Democrat, Rep. Jim Cooper of Tennessee, called the hearing a "kangaroo court." He objected to what he considered to be abusive treatment of the witnesses, all of whom were information technology officers who worked on or monitored the development of the website for the federal health insurance exchange.

"This is not a partisan hearing," replied Issa, who earlier complained of Democrats' "continued obstruction" of Republican efforts to investigate what went wrong with HealthCare.gov's rollout.

And the GOP knows all about obstruction.
