(7,113 posts)But if you want to see more of him, here's a pic (my favorite) that ran with an email announcing his upcoming performance with his own Celtic Rock band, O'Malley's March:

(15,318 posts)I was also thinking how Mark Warner, Andrew Cuomo or Brian Schweitzer might run.

(11,175 posts)Cuomo has largely governed as if he were a Republican. He's demonized unions, cut social programs, etc. The one notable exception has been his support for marriage equality -- an issue on which the polls showed that, in New York, the progressive position was the popular one.

(26,449 posts)Solid democrat, but not presidential enough yet for my tastes.
Now Elizabeth Warren on the other hand is a completely different issue.

(7,113 posts)Sadly, the latest polls I saw showed her trailing Brown, which of course compelled me to send her a donation.

(540 posts)He's got that "affair" baggage (never proven) just waiting to be exploited. And, he's got a seriously pi$$ed off Bob Ehrlich who'd love to insert that into a higher-office campaign against him.

O' Malley would quickly become vetted.
I think he is more than viable. Great delivery, but no one "shoots from the hip" like President Obama. The video of our President as a young Harvard law student impressed the hell out of me. He was a heck of a speaker even as a young man.
For comparison purposes, O'Malley is light years ahead of anyone in the current GOP field when it comes to delivery. Romney is notorious for driving his handlers crazy when going off script. I don't think O'Malley presents that problem.

(7,113 posts)...when it was exposed he made up the rumors and posted them on right-wing discussion boards. I'm surprised you didn't see that in the papers.
So that "affair" baggage was put to rest after O'Malley's first gubanatorial election. Besides, Martin and Katie O'Malley are pretty generally represented in the Maryland media as being a strong, loving couple. She, after all, is a sitting Maryland judge.
As for Ehrlich, yet another of his staffers was recently found guilty of shady election practices during the most recent gubanatorial election. So Ehrlich is in no position to be "inserting" dirt on anyone else.

(20,166 posts)I think he would have tried the same crap here that Scott Walker and other GOP governors have done.

(67,823 posts)For enough reasons to wrote a book, they can't drag that out again. It was started by an aid to his campaign opponent who was just found guilty of fucking with the voting process. As he is the source, he's easily impeached.
They might find others hit to make up about O'Malley, and they would if he ran, but that one is deader than dead.

(43,209 posts)Maryland born, although I moved before O'Malley took office in Annapolis. The fraudster (literally) I have here in Florida is pretty much the polar opposite of O'Malley.
He did a great job as Mayor and is doing a great job as Governor as well. Maryland has fared the recession better than many other states thanks to him.
O'Malley 2016!
Stinky The Clown
(67,823 posts). . . . he's had some pretty tepid performances when given a national stage. I think he would improve with more exposure and more practice, but he just falls a little flat. On policy and record, he's great. I just felt like he lacked the charisma.
I know that can sound harsh. it isn't intended as such. I'd back him if he ran. He just needs a little more "Prime Time Polish."

(47 posts)He's come along ways in a couple of years. Let's hope his struggles were a lack of practice and not stage fright in primetime.
