NBC 5 has learned a gas pipeline has exploded in Milford, about 50 miles south of Dallas.
According to officials in Ellis County, a pipeline near U.S. Highway 77 and Farm-to-Market Road 308 was being worked on when it exploded.
First responders are being called in from neighborhing cities.
Students in the Milford Independent School District are being evacuated and taken to nearby Italy.
All roads within a 1-mile radius are being closed.

(146,317 posts)down and are just waiting for it to burn out. Industrial accident, apparently, since they were working on that location, which looks to be a compressor station.

(146,317 posts)injuries. That's a good thing. Soon, this will burn out. The pipeline has been shut down, so it's burning off the gas in the section between the shut-off valves. How long that will take depends on how much of the pipeline is between the two locations where it can be shut off.

Once this burns off, they'll come back and work on fixing what went wrong.
