How do I KNOW Obamacare will be successful? It's now "The Affordable Care Act" at Fox.

Last edited Wed Dec 11, 2013, 03:23 PM - Edit history (1)

This a.m. Steve Doocy is calling Obamacare the Affordable Care Act. Once he even began saying "Obamacare" but caught himself in the middle of the first syllable and changed it to "The Affordable Care Act."

Obviously there has been a memo countermanding the memo of several years ago based on Frank Luntz's recommendation to demonized the ACA as "Obamacare."

Now Fox and the conservatives don't want a successful and popular program labeled as Obamacare, fearing it will go down in history with Obama's name on it. It would be like calling "Social Security" the "Roosevelt Security Act," giving more popularity to democrats for decades.

Ironically "Obamacare" will now stick due to the conservatives who tried to repeal it and will help Obama in particular and the Democratic brand in general for a long, long time.

Thanks Fox News!!!! Thanks Frank Luntz!!!

One mention in an entire hour of Fox & Friends????? That's also a record!!

To be honest, Bill Hemmer called it "Obamacare" in a promo for his upcoming segment at about 8:45. It will be interesting to see if he's read the memo by the time his segment begins.

I only watch it while I'm flipping channels, so I just see bits and pieces. Back in November, it didn't matter what time of day or what show was on, they were always talking about Obamacare… it was like a non-stop onslaught. But now, it seems like they barely mention it at all! That is a sure sign of its success! They will NEVER say anything good about it, but they will ignore it. That is, until it becomes a huge success and they start taking credit for it.

I'm not sure that will work, though. They have spent so much time and energy on demonizing Obamacare that it's going to be virtually impossible to erase that from the public consciousness. Three years of non-stop demonizing, plus all the votes in the House to repeal the law. There's an endless stream of video and news stories documenting their hatred of the law. Even with media complicity, it's not going to vanish!

I've noticed over the years that all of the conservative talking heads start using specific words or phrases like this all at once. This is not a coincidence. Their strings are obviously being pulled, but by whom specifically? They could be following one another's example, but I don't think that is the case because it always happens so distinctly.

The point of these fake commenters is not just to push a specific agenda. It’s also to deceive the unsuspecting public about the actual amount of support that exists for that agenda. Paid commenters use vicious attacks against anyone who posts an opposing opinion. Eventually the attacks have the effect of driving people with opposite views away from the targeted sites. This allows them to dominate the web with their fake profiles, while at the same time discouraging real people from participating in the discussion.
