Conservative radio host Glenn Beck on Wednesday reacted to Pope Francis being named Times 2013 Person of the Year by naming Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as his Man of the Year.
It makes me nervous about the pope, quite honestly, Beck said, drawing a comparison between the head of the Catholic Church and President Barack Obama.
He makes me a little concerned on his Marxist tendencies, he explained. When youre not on prepared remarks, Marxism starts to creep into your language. When youre asked questions by people, you start to say, Look, I dont want to hurt you, I just think that redistribution of wealth isnt so bad.
Beck argued that both Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Cruz would have made better choices because the implementation of the presidents health care reform law would affect every life on the planet.
The reason why they didnt pick Ted Cruz is because they dont want to give him any more power, he opined. I mean, theyll put Hitler on they did make Hitler and Mussolini the Man of the Year.
As Right Wing Watch noted on Wednesday, Mussolini was never named Man of the Year by Time magazine.
Remember, progressives are fascists, they are for fascism. Congratulations, Beck added. I can tell you right now that they may have put Ted Cruz in the little pool to have his name looked at but nobody considered him.
Thats why The Blaze has selected unbeknownst to The Blaze Man of the Year, Ted Cruz.

(3,596 posts)You believe in a pre-world planet that triggered creation of the world. Then you believe that we all chose our families even before we were born. Then you believe if you are married in the temple you are married forever and that if you are really good Mormons you and your wife will get your own planet where she will be eternally pregnant to populate her planet.
When you have stopped smoking crack come back and we can have a discussion of the pope. j

(4,311 posts)I am almost 66 years old, with very little tech background. Any online research I try always takes more than sixty seconds. I don't know what I've done to my computer, but it's full of glitches. And then I always somehow hit the wrong button before I can see what the right one would have been. Plus my keyboarding is awful. Probably Beck has the same problems.
You younger people have some advantages over us older ones, and I thank God for them. As a group, I believe you are much better than we were. Of course, there are always exceptions, but you guys overall have more understanding and expertise in different areas. When I talk to different ones of you, you don't seem to realize how smart you are, all of you, not just a few. Don't listen to the propaganda. You do too deserve to run the world. You should have seen these guys when they were your ages! I was there watching them, so I know. Wait for your chance to assume authority, and do not hesitate to take it.

(37,163 posts)Like Time, it was founded by Henry Luce.
The July 1934 issue was a special lauding Italy's tenth year of fascism under Mussolini. Keep in mind that at this point the Nazis were still the new guys, having taken over Germany the previous year and Hitler was still consolidating power. Mussolini was still the Grand Old Man of fascism, not yet relegated to "Hitler's comedy sidekick"-status.
Fortune took a shine to Mussolini as a "decisive leader" who "remade Italy". They liked the way he suppressed unions and created what today is called a "business-friendly environment". It wasn't exactly an infomercial for fascism (which Mussolini described as "the merger of state and corporate power" , but it wasn't far short of one either.
