Has the mighy political pendulum passed its conservative zenith?

Last edited Fri Dec 13, 2013, 09:58 PM - Edit history (1)

Are we witnessing the beginning of it swinging back to the progressive side?

What's your gut telling you?

2. Only if they pull the plug on the right hand magnet. Then we can plan on a "centrist" rest.

This country's elite will never allow a true left social democracy.

After more than three decades of the right taking a wrecking ball to the progress we made before that, I am skeptical. And keep in mind this was never a particularly progressive country to start with.

Freed slaves, Social Security, Civil rights, suffrage for women and minorities, National Parks, Moon Shot.

Then again other examples brought us prohibition, native genocide, interment of Japanese Americans.

That's been on my mind a lot lately. It seems that workers in this country have no rights they don't fight like junkyard dogs for, and it 's always been that way.

which is important, because we desperately need to win in 2020 and 2030 to undo the incredible damage done by the GOP's rampant state-level gerrymanders.

It may be true that they are exercising, as the immortal Snagglepuss put it, self-inflicted Bar-B-Q (they're cooking their own goose).

But to presume that and ignore them is a fool's errand. They have immense power, often preached from pulpits across the country, and interminably from media sources, where balance is often a matter of having an argument, even if it isn't a cogent let alone an intelligent one.

Yes! They are screwing themselves. But do not count them out. What we have to do is to continue doing what we do. Shine the light on what they say, often only behind closed doors. We've had recent help in that matter. We cannot let up on that.

Plus, we have the help from their more fervent advocates. Like Focus on the Family, 700 Club, American Family Association, and all their followers on.

It's a fertile field for Democrats to harvest.

on edit: almost forgot. Can't do a Snagglepuss allusion without...

Exit stage left.

I chose 'Possibly;' but, there are obstacles in the way. We're fighting against entrenched power and money, and opponents who never, repeat never fight fair!

Can you cite some examples? I know one can not prove a negative, but anything supporting your hypothesis would be helpful to understand it more fully.
