My father and his side of the family lived in Calhoun, Louisiana, just about 10 miles north of Monroe. The apparent discrepancy in attire and lifestyle in the before and after photos is not that farfetched for the region. The economy in Monroe/West Monroe sucked in the 80s and 90s, and I would assume hasn't improved much since then. The fallback for family there when school or a career or a marriage didn't work was to move back to one of the family farms. The type of transition observed in the photos would happen upon occasion.

I have no idea if that's the case for the Duck Dynasty guys, and it doesn't make what he said any more or less offensive either way. Using the before and after photos as evidence of fakery, however, seems a bit like ignorance of the realities within the region.
